RBI Excludes Seven Banks from Scheduled Banks List

The Reserve Bank of India has directed the exclusion of certain banks from the list of Scheduled Banks, resulting in a change to their regulatory status under the banking framework.
1. Banks Excluded from the Scheduled Banks List
The following banks have been excluded from the list of Scheduled Banks:
- J & K Grameen Bank
- Dakshin Bihar Gramin Bank
- Paschim Banga Gramin Bank
- Bangiya Gramin Vikash Bank
- Ellaquai Dehati Bank
- Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank
2. Impact on Regulatory Status
As a consequence of this exclusion:
- The above banks will no longer be covered under the Second Schedule of the RBI Act, 1934
- They will cease to enjoy the regulatory privileges and facilities available to Scheduled Banks
- Their operations will continue to be governed by the applicable laws and regulations relevant to their respective banking category

The action has been taken in accordance with the provisions of the RBI Act, 1934, under which the Reserve Bank is empowered to include or exclude banks from the Second Schedule.
