SEBI amends eligibility criteria for registration of FPIs; permits AIFs set up in IFSCs as eligible FPIs

NOTIFICATION NO. SEBI/LAD-NRO/GN/2021/54, Dated 27.10.2021
The Market Regulator, SEBI has amended the norms for eligibility criteria of Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs). The amendment has been made in regulation 4 which provides eligibility criteria for registration of FPIs. Now Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) set up in the International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs) shall be permitted as an eligible applicant for registration of FPIs in India.
