PR No. 2025-2026/1276; Dated: 08.10.2025

1. RBI Expands Its Public Awareness Initiative

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been conducting extensive public awareness campaigns across multiple media platforms including print, television, radio, digital, and text messages. These efforts are part of its flagship initiative, ‘RBI Kehta Hai’ (RBI Says), aimed at empowering citizens with essential financial knowledge.

2. Launch of RBI’s Official WhatsApp Channel

Taking a step forward in its outreach strategy, the central bank has officially launched a dedicated WhatsApp Channel. This channel will serve as a trusted source of financial information and regulatory updates, especially for people residing in remote and underserved regions of the country.

3. Making Financial Information More Accessible

With this initiative, RBI intends to make financial communication simpler, faster, and more direct. Citizens will receive real-time updates on regulatory policies, financial safety tips, and key announcements. This approach aligns with the regulator’s goal of strengthening financial literacy and building greater public trust in the banking system.

4. Verified WhatsApp Accounts for Authentic Updates

To ensure authenticity, RBI has shared two verified WhatsApp numbers:

  • 99990 41935 (already in use)
  • 99309 91935 (being added)

Users are advised to follow only the verified accounts with a blue tick to avoid misinformation or fraud.

5. Strengthening Trust in the Financial Ecosystem

Through the ‘RBI Kehta Hai’ initiative and the launch of this WhatsApp channel, the central bank reinforces its commitment to transparency, trust, and public awareness. This marks another milestone in RBI’s efforts to keep citizens informed and financially secure.
