MCA Regional Directorates LLP Act 2026
Notification S.O. 4850(E); Dated: 23.10.2025

1. Background

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has announced a major restructuring of its Regional Directorates (RDs) under the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Act, 2008.

This reform aims to strengthen the administrative framework, improve regional coverage, and enhance regulatory efficiency in overseeing LLP-related matters across India.

2. Key Change – Expansion from 7 to 10 Regional Directorates

Under the revised structure, the number of Regional Directorates has been increased from seven to ten.

This expansion is designed to decentralise operations and ensure faster processing and resolution of LLP filings, approvals, and compliances.

3. Locations of the New and Existing Directorates

The 10 Regional Directorates, along with their respective headquarters, will now be located at:

  1. New Delhi
  2. Chandigarh
  3. Ahmedabad
  4. Mumbai
  5. Navi Mumbai
  6. Chennai
  7. Bengaluru
  8. Kolkata
  9. Guwahati
  10. Hyderabad

Each Directorate will oversee LLP-related functions within its designated territorial jurisdiction, ensuring regional parity and efficient service delivery.

4. Effective Date

The revised regional framework will come into effect from 1 January 2026.
From this date, all LLP-related functions—including approvals, adjudication, and administration—will be managed by the respective Regional Directorates under the new structure.

5. Objective and Expected Impact

The restructuring seeks to:

  • Enhance regulatory outreach and accessibility for LLPs across different regions,
  • Reduce workload concentration in existing offices,
  • Improve responsiveness and turnaround times for compliance matters, and
  • Strengthen governance and uniformity in LLP administration under the MCA framework.

6. Conclusion

This expansion marks a significant step toward decentralisation and capacity building within the MCA’s regional setup.

By increasing the number of Regional Directorates to 10, the Ministry aims to streamline oversight, improve efficiency, and facilitate ease of doing business for LLPs across India.
