1. PCAOB seeks public comments on proposed amendments to QC 1000
The PCAOB has proposed targeted amendments to QC 1000 – A Firm’s System of Quality Control to improve alignment with other quality management standards and reduce the implementation burden, while retaining the standard’s effective date of 15 December 2026. Public comments are invited until 9 July 2026.
2. FASB seeks public comments on proposed Accounting Changes for Market-Return Cash Balance Plans
FASB has issued a proposed Accounting Standards Update to clarify the discount rate used for measuring benefit obligations under certain market-return cash balance plans, aiming to better reflect the economics of such arrangements and improve consistency in financial reporting. Comments are open until 10 August 2026.
3. FRC launches new sandbox initiatives to support Audit Innovation and Simplify Reporting
FRC (UK) has expanded its innovation programme by launching new sandbox initiatives focused on audit technology and AI adoption, simplification of annual reporting, and proportionate auditing for SMEs. The initiatives are intended to support innovation, enhance audit quality, and reduce unnecessary compliance burdens across the audit ecosystem.
