Accounting Standard Board of ICAI Invites Comments on IASB’s Exposure Draft for Amendments to IAS 37

The Accounting Standards Board (ASB) of ICAI has invited public comments on the exposure draft issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) regarding targeted improvements to IAS 37, Provisions, Contingent Liabilities and Contingent Assets. This draft proposes key amendments, including:
- Aligning the definition of a liability with the Conceptual Framework.
- Updating recognition criteria for present obligations.
- Replacing IFRIC 6 and IFRIC 21 with illustrative examples in IAS 37 guidance.The IASB’s exposure draft is open for public comment until January 20, 2025, to help stakeholders in India stay aligned with global developments in accounting standards.
