SEBI vs SCAM campaign

PR No.46/2025, Dated: 24.07.2025

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), in collaboration with key Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) and the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), has initiated a joint investor awareness campaign titled ‘SEBI vs SCAM’. This coordinated effort aims to enhance investor education and protect the public from financial frauds in the securities market.

1. Objective Strengthening Investor Protection

The campaign is designed to empower investors with the knowledge and tools to identify fraudulent schemes, misleading investment opportunities, and unauthorised market participants. By educating investors on how scams operate, SEBI aims to minimise the risk of financial loss due to deceptive practices.

2. Key Focus Areas of the Campaign

The ‘SEBI vs SCAM’ campaign revolves around the following core themes:

  • Red Flag Indicators – Educating investors on common warning signs of fraud, such as promises of guaranteed high returns, pressure to act quickly, or requests for personal or financial details.
  • Verification Protocols – Encouraging investors to verify the credentials of intermediaries and investment schemes through SEBI’s online databases and official channels.
  • Trusted Redressal Mechanisms – Promoting awareness about SEBI’s complaint resolution platform – SCORES – and how investors can seek timely redressal of grievances.
  • Good Digital Practices – Promoting cyber hygiene by advising investors to avoid clicking on unknown links, sharing OTPs or passwords, and using secure platforms for financial transactions.

3. A Unified Effort for Market Safety

This campaign marks a rare and significant collaboration among SEBI, MIIs, and AMFI, highlighting the urgency of creating a fraud-resilient investment environment. It underscores SEBI’s commitment to proactive regulation, investor education, and market transparency.
