SEBI MoU with NFSU

1. Overview

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) to advance cooperation in the fields of research, training, education, skill development, and the strengthening of forensic and cyber investigation capabilities.

The partnership aims to enhance SEBI’s institutional expertise in handling complex market violations, cyber incidents, and evidence-based enforcement.

2. Key Areas of Collaboration

2.1 Capacity Building for SEBI Officers

The MoU provides for:

  • Skill enhancement of SEBI officials,
  • Tailored training programmes,
  • Exposure to advanced forensic methodologies, and
  • Capacity building in technology-driven investigation techniques.

2.2 Development of Specialised Courses

NFSU will design and deliver customised courses for SEBI in areas such as:

  • Forensic accounting,
  • Digital forensics,
  • Financial crime analysis,
  • Securities market investigations, and
  • Evidence management.

These courses will strengthen domain-specific competencies relevant to SEBI’s enforcement functions.

2.3 Joint Training and Workshops

The MoU facilitates the organisation of:

  • Joint workshops,
  • Seminars,
  • Hands-on training sessions, and
  • Knowledge-sharing programmes

to advance practical expertise in forensic tools and investigative techniques.

2.4 Access to Forensic Infrastructure and Expertise

SEBI will gain access to:

  • NFSU’s state-of-the-art labs,
  • Expert faculty and researchers,
  • Specialised forensic equipment, and
  • Advanced analytical tools used in cyber security, digital forensics, and allied sciences.

This collaboration enhances SEBI’s ability to analyse digital evidence, detect manipulation, and investigate technologically sophisticated market misconduct.

2.5 Development of Forensic Systems and Infrastructure

The partnership includes joint efforts to:

  • Build and upgrade SEBI’s forensic infrastructure,
  • Integrate advanced forensic technologies into regulatory processes,
  • Strengthen systems for data analytics, cyber investigation, and electronic evidence handling.

The MoU is expected to:
