SEBI has released frequently asked questions (FAQs) on ‘Small and Medium REITs’ (SM REITs). These FAQs provide a simplified explanation and clarification of terms and concepts related to the SEBI (Real Estate Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014. Some of the FAQs include:
- the basic difference between the framework for an SM REIT and the existing REITs,
- whether a real estate developer can launch its own SM REIT,
- if multiple Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) can jointly own a single property and
- whether foreign investors are allowed to invest in the Investment Manager.
