SEBI Releases Consultation Paper on Reviewing Conditions for Category II AIFs to Enhance Ease of Doing Business

Consultation Paper; Dated: 07.02.2025
SEBI has released a consultation paper proposing amendments to Regulation 17(a) of SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulations, 2012, allowing Category II AIFs to invest more than 50% of their total investible funds in unlisted securities and/or listed debt securities with a credit rating of ‘A’ or below, either directly or through investment in units of other AIFs. This aims to address the shrinking universe of unlisted debt investments due to recent LODR amendments.
