SEBI has put an end to market rumours regarding ongoing discussions for enhanced prosecution powers under the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956. SEBI further clarified that it has not formed or considered the formation of any committee to review the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956. This statement comes after a media report that the SEBI plans to set up an expert panel to suggest changes to the 67-year-old SCRA Act.
