SEBI Issues Detailed Guidelines w.r.t Holding of Investment in Demat & Appointment of Custodian By An AIF

Circular: SEBI/HO/AFD/PoD/CIR/2024/5, Dated 12.01.2024

Earlier, on 5th Jan SEBI had notified certain amendments to the AIF regulations. In this regard, the SEBI further specifies that Any investment made by an AIF on or after Oct 01, 2024 shall be held in demat form only, irrespective of whether investment is made directly in the investee company or is acquired from another entity. Further, the norms w.r.t appointment of custodian has also been specified like custodian for a scheme of an AIF shall be appointed prior to the date of first investment.
