Press Release: 2023-2024/364, Dated 08.06.2023
On the basis of an assessment of the current and evolving macroeconomic situation, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) at its meeting on June 8, 2023 decided to Keep the policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) unchanged at 6.50 per cent.
Further, the standing deposit facility (SDF) rate remains unchanged at 6.25 per cent and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate at 6.75 per cent.
The main considerations underlying the decision were global and domestic economy. In the second quarter of 2023, the global economy is sustaining the momentum gained in the preceding quarter in spite of still elevated though moderating inflation, tighter financial conditions, banking sector stress, and lingering geopolitical conflicts.
