Notification No. G.S.R 452(E); Dated: 07.07.2025
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has introduced a key amendment to the Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Rules, 2014 through the Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Amendment Rules, 2025. This amendment is aimed at simplifying the registration process for entities intending to undertake Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
1. Web-Based Form CSR-1 Introduced
Effective from July 14, 2025, Form CSR-1—which was earlier filed in PDF format—will now be available as a web-based form on the MCA21 portal. This move aligns with the government’s broader objective to digitise compliance procedures and enhance ease of doing business.
2. Purpose of Form CSR-1
Form CSR-1 is the mandatory registration form for the following entities that intend to carry out CSR activities on behalf of companies:
- A company established under section 8 of the Companies Act
- A registered public trust
- A registered society
Such entities must be registered with the Central Government by filing this form before undertaking any CSR project or programme.
3. Key Information Required in Web-Based Form CSR-1
The newly formatted web-based CSR-1 form continues to seek comprehensive details about the applying entity, including:
-
Entity Details:
-
- Type of entity (company, trust, society)
- Date of incorporation/registration
- Registered address and official email ID
- PAN of the entity
-
Key Functionaries’ Details:
-
- Information about directors, trustees, or office bearers
- Details of chairman, secretary, and authorised representative of the entity
These details are essential for verification and establishing accountability in CSR implementation.
4. Expected Benefits of the Amendment
- Simplified Filing Process – Elimination of physical form upload, ensuring direct data entry and validation online.
- Increased Transparency – Centralised digital submission aids in maintaining an authentic record of eligible CSR entities.
- Timely Approvals – Real-time validation is expected to expedite registration timelines.
