MCA Expands Regional Directors List Under Companies Act from 16 Feb 2026

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has amended Notification S.O. 891(E) dated 31 March 2015, revising and expanding the list of Regional Directors (RDs) for administrative coverage under the Companies Act, 2013.
The amendment enhances the regional administrative framework governing companies across India.
1. Revised List of Regional Directors’ Offices
Under the updated notification, Regional Directors will now be located at:
- Ahmedabad
- Bangalore
- Chandigarh
- Chennai
- Guwahati
- Hyderabad
- Kolkata
- Mumbai
- Navi Mumbai

This revised list replaces the earlier jurisdictional structure notified in 2015.
2. Objective of the Amendment
The expansion of Regional Directors’ offices aims to:
- Strengthen administrative oversight under the Companies Act
- Improve accessibility for companies and professionals
- Distribute workload more efficiently across regions
- Enhance responsiveness in approvals, adjudication, and compliance matters
3. Effective Date

The amendment is effective from 16 February 2026.
All matters falling under the jurisdiction of Regional Directors from this date shall be handled as per the revised allocation.
