MCA Expands Regional Director Jurisdictions to 10 Cities for LLP Matters

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has updated its 2022 notification to expand the list of Regional Directors’ (RD) offices applicable to matters concerning Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) under the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008.

1. Revised List of Regional Directors

Pursuant to the amendment, Regional Directors will now be designated at the following locations:

  • Ahmedabad
  • Bangalore
  • Chandigarh
  • Chennai
  • Guwahati
  • Hyderabad
  • Kolkata
  • Mumbai
  • Navi Mumbai
  • New Delhi

2. Objective of the Update

The expansion of Regional Directors’ offices aims to:

  • Strengthen administrative efficiency in LLP-related matters
  • Improve accessibility for LLP stakeholders across regions
  • Facilitate smoother adjudication and approval processes
  • Align jurisdictional coverage with the growing number of LLPs

3. Regulatory Significance

Regional Directors exercise various powers under the LLP Act, including:

  • Handling appeals and adjudication matters
  • Granting approvals and extensions
  • Supervisory and administrative oversight

The expanded structure enhances regional coverage and operational efficiency.
