The Lok Sabha has passed the Constitution (128th) Amendment Bill, 2023 that was introduced by the Central Government on 19.09.2023. This amendment bill introduces new articles and clauses in the existing Constitution.

The bill states that one-third of the total number of seats must be reserved for women in the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Further, one-third of the seats must be reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes in the House of People.
