PR No. 24/2025; Dated: 02.05.2025

The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) have signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing capacity building and professional standards in the financial sector.

1. Key Objective – Advancing Training and Certification

The MoU outlines a collaborative framework under which NISM will serve as the training partner for IFSCA. This partnership extends to intermediaries registered with IFSCA, with a focus on building a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, and regulatory compliance.

2. NISM to Conduct Certification Examinations

As part of the agreement –

  • NISM will conduct certification examinations relevant to the financial services ecosystem in the IFSC.
  • This includes mandatory certification examinations prescribed under the IFSCA Regulations for registered intermediaries.

3. Impact on Market Participants

This collaboration is expected to –

  • Standardise competency levels across financial intermediaries operating in GIFT-IFSC;
  • Ensure alignment with global best practices in training and certification;
  • Support regulatory compliance through structured and recognised assessments.

4. Strategic Significance

The partnership reflects IFSCA’s continued efforts to build a robust, well-regulated, and professionally competent financial ecosystem in India’s international financial services hub. By leveraging NISM’s expertise in capital markets education and training, the initiative aims to raise the bar for quality and compliance among market participants.
