GSTN OTP consent alerts

GSTN Advisory, Dated 17-06-2025

To strengthen transparency and data security within the Goods and Services Tax (GST) ecosystem, the GST System will soon introduce an automated email and SMS notification service for taxpayers. This service is designed to keep taxpayers informed whenever an Application Suvidha Provider (ASP) obtains OTP-based consent to access their data through GST APIs.

1. Details Included in the Notification

Upon successful OTP-based consent by an ASP, the authorised signatory of the taxpayer will receive a notification via both email and SMS. The alert will contain the following information:

  • Name of the ASP accessing the data
  • Name of the underlying GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) associated with the ASP
  • Date and Time when OTP consent was provided
  • Validity Period of the granted consent

This initiative ensures taxpayers are promptly aware of who has access to their GST data and for how long.

2. New Access Control Features on the GST Portal

To complement the notification service, the GST Common Portal is being upgraded with additional capabilities. Taxpayers will soon be able to:

  • View all current and historical access granted to ASPs and GSPs
  • Track the details of each consent, including duration and provider details
  • Revoke active consents directly through the portal interface

These features empower taxpayers with greater control over their data and enhance accountability for third-party data access.

3. Availability Timeline and Advisory Communication

The exact date of availability for these new functionalities will be communicated through official GST advisories. Taxpayers are advised to regularly check the GST Portal or subscribe to updates to stay informed about the rollout.
