GSTN Advisory, Dated 20-07-2025
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued a clarification regarding the incorrect issuance of Form GSTR-3A notices to certain composition taxpayers.
1. System Glitch Triggered Incorrect Notices
Due to a technical glitch, Form GSTR-3A notices—which are meant to alert taxpayers for non-filing of Form GSTR-4—were erroneously issued to composition taxpayers whose registrations were cancelled prior to the Financial Year 2024–25.
2. No Action Required for Certain Taxpayers
GSTN has assured that its technical team is currently working to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, taxpayers:
- Who have already filed the required Form GSTR-4 returns, or
- Whose GST registrations were cancelled before FY 2024–25
can safely ignore these notices, as no further compliance or response is necessary from their end.
3. How to Report Other Concerns
If taxpayers encounter issues outside the scope of this clarification, they are advised to:
- Raise a grievance through the Self-Service Portal available on the GST Portal
- Provide relevant details and supporting documents to ensure timely resolution
4. Summary
This communication serves to prevent confusion or unnecessary compliance efforts among affected composition taxpayers. GSTN’s proactive clarification underscores its commitment to resolving system-related errors promptly and transparently.
