NCLAT judicial appointments 2025

MCA Notification; Dated: 14.05.2025

The Central Government has officially appointed Justice N Sesha Sayee and Justice Mohammad Faiz Alam Khan as Judicial Members of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).

1. Tenure and Terms of Appointment

As per the appointment order –

  • Both Justices will serve a tenure of four years starting from the date they assume office.
  • However, their term may end earlier if they attain the age of 67 years before the four-year period is completed.

This is in line with the provisions governing appointments to tribunals in India.

2. About NCLAT

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) hears appeals against orders passed by –

  • The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT)
  • The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI)
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI)
  • And other related authorities

The appointments aim to strengthen the appellate body’s capacity to deal with rising case volumes and ensure timely justice in corporate and insolvency matters.
