Govt Appoints Chairperson and Members of NFRA for Three-year Term

1. Appointment of NFRA Chairperson
The Government has officially appointed Shri Nitin Gupta as the new Chairperson of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA). His appointment has been made effective from 23rd July, 2025 (forenoon) and will be for a tenure of three years or until he attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier.
2. Appointment of Full-Time Members
Alongside the Chairperson, the Government has also appointed Ms. Smita Jhingran, Shri P. Daniel, and Shri Sushil Kumar Jaiswal as Full-Time Members of NFRA. This move strengthens the leadership and decision-making framework of the Authority, ensuring that it has experienced professionals to guide its functioning.
3. Tenure and Service Conditions
The newly appointed Chairperson and Members will serve under the provisions laid down in the NFRA Rules, 2018. Their tenure of three years or until reaching the age of sixty-five years, whichever comes earlier, provides a defined structure for leadership continuity and accountability within the Authority.
4. Strengthening Financial Reporting Oversight
The appointments reflect the Government’s commitment to strengthening financial reporting and corporate governance in India. With NFRA playing a critical role in ensuring high-quality accounting and auditing standards, the new leadership is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing transparency, investor confidence, and trust in India’s financial ecosystem.
