Industrial Relations Code 2020

Notification No. S.O. 2313(E); Dated: 08.05.2026

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified the appointment of:

  • Additional Chief Labour Commissioner, and
  • Regional Labour Commissioners (Central)

as Certifying Officers under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.

1. Role of Certifying Officers

The appointed officers will perform functions assigned under the Code, including matters relating to:

  • Certification and modification of Standing Orders
  • Other functions prescribed under the Industrial Relations framework

2. Territorial Jurisdiction Specified

  • The notification clearly defines territorial jurisdiction of each regional office
  • Covers various States and Union Territories

3. Objective of the Notification

The move aims to:

  • Operationalise provisions of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020
  • Ensure administrative clarity and regional oversight
  • Facilitate efficient implementation of labour law procedures

4. Regulatory Significance

The designation of certifying officers provides:

  • A formal mechanism for processing and certification functions under the Code
