Govt Appoints 53 Advocates As Special Public Prosecutors For ED

The Ministry of Finance has taken a significant step to strengthen the legal representation of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) by appointing a panel of advocates as Special Public Prosecutors (SPPs). A total of 53 advocates have been appointed as SPPs to represent the ED before Special Courts constituted under the PMLA. These counsels will play a crucial role in handling complex money laundering cases and advancing the government’s efforts to curb financial crimes and illicit fund flows.

The appointments span across a wide range of states and union territories, ensuring nationwide legal coverage for money-laundering cases. Each appointed advocate will serve as a Special Public Prosecutor for the tenure specified in the official notification.
