The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has directed coaching centres to comply with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisements. Centres must disclose the student’s name, rank, course type, and payment status in advertisements. CCPA acted against misleading ads by institutes offering services for UPSC CSE, IIT-JEE, and RBI exams. It issued 49 notices, imposed Rs. 77.60 lakh penalty on 24 centres & ordered discontinuation of unfair practices.
