Clarification on acceptance of e-CoO issued under India-UAE CEPA: Instruction

Instruction No. 28/2022- Customs dated October 27th, 2022
The CBIC has received several representations with regard to India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) stating that importers are facing difficulty in availing preferential tariff benefit on basis of e-CoO issued. Now, the CBIC has issued instruction to clarify that e-CoO issued electronically by the issuing authority of UAE is a valid document for availing preferential benefits under India-UAE CEPA if it is issued in prescribed format and bears electronically printed seal & signature.
