CBIC reduces excise duty on Petrol and Diesel: Notification

Notification No. 02/2022-Central Excise Dated May 21st, 2022

The CBIC has issued amended the Notification No. 04/2019-Central Excise, dated 6th July, 2019 to reduce the additional excise duty on Petrol and Diesel by Rs. 8 per litre and Rs. 6 per litre respectively. Earlier, the additional duty of excise was leviable at Rs. 13 per litre on Motor spirit, commonly known as petrol and Rs. 8 per litre on High speed diesel oil.

Now, the new rate of additional duty of excise shall be Rs. 5 per litre on Motor spirit, commonly known as petrol and Rs. 2 per litre on High speed diesel oil. This notification shall be effective from 22nd May, 2022.
