CBDT Extends Circular No. 13/2023 Applicability to Ay 2023-24 for Condonation of Delay in Filing ITR With Sec. 80P Claim

Circular no. 14/2024, dated 30-10-2024

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) vide Circular No 13/2023, Dated 26-07-2023, has authorised CCsIT/DGsIT to condonation the delay in filing income tax returns by cooperative societies claiming deduction under section 80P.

The board received applications from cooperative societies claiming deductions under section 80P for AY 2018-19 to AY 2022-23. They seek condonation of delay in filing income tax returns caused by delays in getting their accounts audited under state laws. The request is to treat the returns as filed within the due date.

Now, the board has received applications requesting the condonation of delay in filing the return of income for AY 2023-24 as well. Considering the request, the Board extends the applicability of Circular No. 13/2023 dated 26.07.2023 to AY 2023-24, subject to the conditions stipulated therein.
