UPDATE: Compliance Calendar for May, 2021 with GST relaxations for the Month of March & April 2021

Recently, the GST Implementation Committee met and discussed the fate of payment and filing of monthly returns for the month of July. In a statement, Finance Ministry notified that several state and central government officials met and decided to extend the last date for filing of GSTR 3B from an earlier date of 20th August 2017 to 25th August 2017.

It is to be noted that the form GSTR 3B is an interim measure for filing returns for the month of July and August. Hence, it is a special summary return that would be replaced by GSTR 3 from September onwards.

Amidst the growing concern regarding clarity over details of filing the returns among businesses and the trading community, this call for extension was taken.  Several states requested their inability towards timely compliances due to flood or late passing of GST ordinance, as was in the case of J&K. The technical glitches faced by the businesses also prompted them to ask for a postponement in the due date for filing of returns.
